Low end frequencies are generated in a low resonance enclosure for tighter mid-bass transients and accurate reproduction of deep bass.

The individual speakers are positioned to locate in the same acoustic plane & the drivers themselves are further aligned to compensate for their different inertias.
What makes the Phased Array concept so compelling from a sonic standpoint is that it simultaneously provides a favorable time delay corrected and low diffraction environment for the drive units. This provides the open window into the soundstage for which Dahlquist is famous.
A Brief History of Technology
The tweeter & midrange are mounted on a separate baffle, which is critically sized and shaped to minimize unwanted diffraction. The Dahlquist Phased Array line-up utilizes specially developed sets of drivers, optimized for its application.
The drivers in the Dahlquist Phased Array systems are mounted in a time aligned configuration. The radiating plane of each of the drivers is aligned and mounted on specifically sized baffles, improving openness and dispersion. Time alignment allows the contributions of the tweeter, midrange and woofer to arrive at your ears at the same time.
